Giving Halloween a little ‘Twist’

During the Halloween season, everyone is looking to be the scariest and most eccentric. To achieve the perfect look, it takes a weeks worth of preparing; heading to thousands of Halloween and party stores before ending up with the perfect costume and saving up money to get all the necessary equipment needed. Most of all, the best part about getting ready for Halloween is pampering yourself with makeup.

This weekend my sister and I ventured out to several Halloween stores looking for the perfect priced and easy to apply make-up. We ended finding the perfect place, Halloween City, on Centennial Center Blvd. The store had a well variety of makeup choices and all sorts of colors for a well-rounded price. With  the make-up, fake blood, and latex glue, it came to a total of 30$. Even in a week advance of Halloween coming its way the line was extraordinarily long, but the cashiers worked hard and got everyone through quickly. Over all, everyone leaving the store pleased with their purchases and children excited about their new costumes.

Now it was time to test the product. My sister was doing a half faced representation of dead of the dead. Before we started with the Halloween make up, my sister applied her foundation and concealer. Then we took a pale white paste, from the 7 color professional pallet ($6.99). The product went on nicely and took a couple coats to fully cover up her face, do to her foundation she previously applied. (So ladies, a quick tip, before applying your Halloween make up don’t apply your regular make up). Making the skeleton features, we used the black powder, which didn’t turn out too great when it blended with the white, so this also took a couple layers to get it to a  perfectly dark black. After all the small and extra tweaks, we applied her lashes. The lashes were so thick that it made it harder to glue, so they aren’t recommended. I think the cheaper ones at Target work better just because they aren’t too heavy. Over all, the make up worked perfect. It was easy to apply and my sister stated that it stayed on all night. Have a great Halloween!
