Leaves scattering the ground isn’t the only indication of the beginning of fall. Nothing alerts you of fall’s arrival more than Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte hitting the storefronts. Its not like we can complain. Sorting through your latest social media feed, an image of the pumpkin spice is not missed. Therefore, does the well known Latte live up to its famous name?

The drink was introduced in 2003.  Since then, Starbucks has sold over 200 million of the popular PSL’s. Starbucks describes the drink as: “Our signature espresso and milk are highlighted by flavor notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, to create this incredible beverage that’s a fall favorite.  Enjoy it topped with whipped cream and real pumpkin pie spices.”

As the Starbucks employee slid the drink across the counter in my direction, I noticed the delicate swirl of whipped cream topped with pumpkin spice powder. Taking a sip, the flavor of nutmeg and cinnamon instantly hit my taste buds. It tasted like fall. As I inhaled the rest of the tasty drink, it had the perfect amount of sweetness.

Even after careful consideration, I concluded the drink was amazing. Even though I wasn’t a big pumpkin fan, the drink had the perfect blends of spices and whipped cream to make the pumpkin taste faint, but at the same time prominent. The drink left a savory aftertaste that reminded me of the approaching holidays. I recommend you take a trip to your local Starbucks’ and take a swig of liquid fall; the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
