Have you noticed the hysteria for Hydroflasks® around the campus of Faith Lutheran? What is the big deal about these metal water bottles? What makes them different and superior to all the others? Well, I had to see for myself what the hype about these particular bottles was all about.

The company Hydroflask® has a wide variety of bottle colors, sizes, lids, and straws on their website to appeal to all ages and lifestyles. The prices varied from $15.95 all the way to $59.95. For some, this might be very pricy for a water bottle, so I decided to do some more research about the product that would explain the price of it.

The Hydroflask® company started in 2009 in the small town of Bend, Oregon, where the majority of people enjoyed outdoor activities. They noticed that their drinks and food wouldn’t stay warm or keep cold, so they decided to design these bottles. After two years of sales, a beer company contacted them and asked them to make a bottle to keep beer fresh. After that, the company “blew up” overnight. Today, they sell over 100 products in the US, Canada, and now Europe.

So, what makes these bottles so special? Their unique TEMPSHEILD ™ technology uses double-walled & vacuum-sealed insulation to keep beverages fresh and at the same temperature all day with no condensation or “sweat” on the side of the bottle. These products are also constructed with an 18/8 stainless steel that is sturdy, yet thin, and prevents flavor transferring. Lastly, they use an integrative powder-coat to create a firm grip on the bottle and better durability to survive all circumstances. Along with a great product, Hydroflask® donates 5% of all proceeds to multiple non-profit organizations.

I purchased the black, 40oz., wide-mouth, bottle with a straw lid for a total of $49.75. When it came, I was shocked to see how sleek and light the bottle was. Yes, it was on the bigger side, but for someone who drinks about a gallon of water a day, it was perfect for me. After filling it with water and ice in the morning, it became slightly heavy, but nothing unbearable. When I woke up the next morning, to my amazement, it still had ice in it! This product was absolutely perfect to me except for two small details.

After taking a hard fall due to the bottle disconnecting to the lid, which I was carrying it by, I was shocked to see a big dent in the bottle. It was very frustrating to see that, knowing how much money I paid for it. The lid was also faulty which caused it to disconnect in the first place which was also concerning. After contacting them, I received a new and properly functioning lid. Other than that, I can say that this product is wonderful and worth every penny. Overall, I give this product a 4.5 out of 5 star rating.
