Christmas comes early to Faith

The Faith Theatre Company is currently in the process of bringing the Christmas spirit to the Faith Lutheran campus.

The directors, cast, and technical crew of the upcoming show White Christmas have been meeting everyday after school and occasional weekends for vocal, acting, and dancing rehearsals.

“Based on like the season, the time period for the musical, I think it’s fitting doing it in December—doing it as the first show,” said Anthony Balko, who will make his onstage debut as the retired General Waverly in the musical.

I’m really excited, I think it’s really different from what we normally do. It’s gotten me in the Christmas spirit a little early this year

The show is set in the 1940’s time period. Actors and directors have to be conscientious of the differences between modern day and 1940’s music and acting.

Some of the actors even have unique methods on how to approach their role.

“I take things that have happened to me in my life, I also ask myself how someone famous such as Leo Dicaprio or Matthew McConaughey would play certain roles and it just comes to me!” said sophomore Jackson Langford, who is portraying the character of Phil Davis.

With a cast of forty-one students and various show-stopping numbers, the creative team has a lot on their plate.

“This one, there’s some challenges as far as the number of set pieces. I’m finding one of the biggest concerns is costumes because there are just an unbelievable amount of costumes,” said Mr. Ball, the director of White Christmas.

Each member of the cast and crew is buzzing with excitement about bringing a classic show like White Christmas to Faith and anticipate the audience’s reactions.

“What really excites me about this show is how beautifully classic it is. Like I’m not a sappy guy and I absolutely loathe the 40’s, but songs like “White Christmas,” “Happy Holidays,” and “Blue Skies” are so iconic and loving,” said senior Robert Quam, who is a part of the Quintet in the show.

Word about the musical is quickly spreading throughout the community.

The classic Christmas musical will take Faith’s CPAC stage on December 5-14.

“This experience is going to be a spectacle different than ever before seen on the Faith stage,” said Quam.
