Struggling to Serve

Struggling+to+Serve

As school is almost over, the deadline for turning in your service hours has come to a end. Many students at Faith finished their hours with no problems, for instance Ryan Golmassian, sophomore, completed close to 105.

“ I serve because I enjoy doing, it’s for a great cause, and I love helping others,” said Golmassian.

Unlike Golmassian, some students did the minimum and at the last minute.

“ I didn’t really have time to do mine so I faked some of them,” said an anonymous student.

Mr. Bowline, Assistant Principal, frowns upon this and thinks we should not feel forced to serve but want to serve others. Nearly the entire student body enjoys serving others and completing service hours. We as Christians serve others as Jesus served.
‘’Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.’’- 1 Peter 4:10

The deadline for turning in service hours was May 15; however if hours still haven’t been turned in, get them to the front office ASAP.
For seniors who don’t turn in their hours, they will not get a diploma or graduate high school. For other students, they will not receive their schedule.

“I recommend for students to get some hours done during the summer so that way they don’t have to interfere during the school year. ”

Faith allows you to get all your hours out of the way during summer vacation. Students such as Blake Bell, sophomore, did this to get his hours out of the way.

“I served at a three day tournament last July for 8 hours each day to get mine done so I wouldn’t have to stress over them,” said Bell.

While some students have a very full plate attending Faith Lutheran, there should still be room to serve others. Overall, procrastinating might not be the greatest idea.
