Dance Team Dominates

The Faith Lutheran Dance teams have always been known for their captivating performances. Their halftime routines continuously add the perfect amount of energy and charisma to Faith sporting events.

This past weekend on Saturday, February 1st, the varsity dance team and middle school dance team attended the National Dance Alliance competition here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Seven different schools, including Basic, Cimarron, Coronado, Durango, Liberty, and Palo Verde, participated in the competition.

The varsity dance team performed two routines – a jazz and hip-hop. Faith placed 3rd for their jazz number choreographed by Ms. Jessica and coach Mrs. Christine Harper.

The hip-hop routine won 1st place, scoring a 9.55, the highest score of the overall competition. Faith alumni student, Brittney Bennett, choreographed the routine. The varsity girls also took home the titles for Best Showmanship and Best Choreography.

“We were excited to know all of our hard work and dedication paid off,” said junior Melissa Buchholz. “It was an honor to be recognized for our talents among some elite dance teams in Vegas.”

The middle school dance team competed as a junior varsity team and placed 2nd against Palo Verde’s actual junior varsity high school team.

“Humility is one of a dancer’s strongest traits so if you have a dance team member in any of your classes a ‘congrats’ would be greatly appreciated,” said Harper.

The varsity dance team will be traveling to Anaheim, California on February 14th for their most anticipated competition yet – the West Coast competition.
