Fiona (Brooke Solan) and Shrek (Harrison Langford) perform a love ballad.

Three performances down and three to go for principle performers Harrison Langford and Brooke Solan, and the entire cast of  the High School Musical, Shrek. The musical has been nearly sold out due to rave reviews from show goers. Audience members burst out into laughter throughout the delightfully humorous musical last weekend.  “It was like seeing a real Broadway musical in a Broadway Theater,” said audience member Lori Johnson, ” I have seen my share of school productions, but this was unbelievable.”

While all of the cast of Shrek had stellar performances, the two leads of the show Harrison Langford (Shrek) and Brooke Solan (Fiona) “brought down the house” as they say in theater.

This weekend,  Solan and Langford  have the opportunity to not only perform three more shows here at Faith, but they have been nominated to compete in the Nevada Musical Theater High School competition at The Smith Center. Director Erik Ball dubbed the duo as #TeamBrookeHarrison.

“I’m sure I speak for both of us when I say that we’re a bit nervous, but have the proper training and experience to bring Faith the win. I’m excited to have such and amazing opportunity,”  said Langford.

Winners of the competition will go to New York City and perform on a Broadway stage, which is something both Langford and Solan aspire. “I am so excited to compete this weekend! It is such a huge honor, and I’m so grateful to get to sing at the Smith Center.

“To think that we could possibly win, and go to New York to perform on a Broadway stage, just ups the stakes and makes it even more exciting”

— Brooke Solan

The original Sunday, May 11 performance at 4 pm changed to 7:15 pm to allow #TeamBrookeHarrison to make it back to Faith’s stage from being at The Smith Center all day. The buzz around the school was the performers would be exhausted and could potentially not be able to sing; however, the duo puts that rumor to rest.

“No!!  Brooke and I both have the proper training to keep our voices in check and are very used to using them periodically throughout the day. We will be fine!! Proud to represent Faith,” said Langford.  His partner elaborates on keeping themselves prepared for this weekend.

“As a singer, I am not too concerned about my voice. I take certain herbs every day to maintain my health and my voice, and it has kept me healthy for a while now,” Solan exclaims,”Overall, I’m really nervous to compete, but excited more than anything.”

Langford and Solan were only part of the amazingly talented cast. Jackson Langford (Donkey), Matt D’Arrigo  (Lord Farquaad), and Kayla Juntilla (Dragon), Molly Shaw (Sugar Plum Fairy, and Gingy) and Jennifer Navoa (Pinnochio) were all brilliantly casted.  From the fantastically colorful costumes, to make up and set design, it is hard not to mention each and every cast and crew member of this outstanding musical.

As of today, there are scattered seats left in the Center for Performing Arts and Chapel for all three performances.Theater managers are suggesting you get your tickets today at faiththeatrecompany.com and support #TeamBrookeHarrison on twitter.
