Oh, The Places We Go!

As students returned from Christmas break, many exchanged stories of how they spent the long, greatly needed 2 weeks. Some students spent their vacation traveling within the United States and not far from home to places such as California and Utah. Others traveled much further. Liva and Siena Faselt, along with their family, went to Paris, France for Christmas break. That’s nearly 5,000 miles away and an 18 hour flight!

The sisters left the day after Christmas to “the City of Lights.” While Siena and Liva were in Paris, they went to historic monuments and museums that left them speech less. “Two of my favorites places were the Palace of Versailles and the Norte Dame Cathedral” said junior, Liva. Going to a new and beautiful country is the experience of a lifetime because the culture is very different from your own.

“I learned a ton of new stuff, being in a foreign country and all. I became a little bit more familiar with French,” said Liva. After taking French class here at Faith, Liva loved the opportunity of experiencing the language in her everyday life, even if there was still a language barrier. “The craziest things that probably happened [was] the confusions between the languages! I speak very little French, so my family really struggled with communication. It was funny to watch everyone try to communicate with each other,” said Liva.

Life is a journey with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to enjoy.  Anywhere you go in life, even in you’re dreams, you will go on an adventure that will take you farther than you think.

As you might expect, leaving the “City of Lights” or “City of Love” was extremely difficult. The Faselt’s reveal they definitely plan on going back some day and admit it was the vacation of a lifetime.
