With the Halloween season coming to the end, students around Faith Lutheran reflected on their favorite childhood Halloween movies. Their options to choose from were; Casper the Friendly Ghost, It’s the Great Pumpkin – Charlie Brown, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Twitches.

Halloweentown was voted as the most popular childhood Halloween movie. “My favorite part is the flying school bus in the first movie and I love the Grandma,” said Jordan Surina, junior. How can someone not love a movie filled with vampires, werewolves, ghosts, trolls, ogres, pumpkin heads, skeletons and goblins all in a mysterious fantasyland?

In second place, Casper the Friendly Ghost, followed by It’s the Great Pumpkin – Charlie Brown in third. Most students and teachers admit that they love the older classics but nothing compares to any of the four Halloweentown movies.

Students also agree that haunted houses, costume parties and carving pumpkins are their favorite activities for getting into the spooky spirit.  Students love Halloween because, “it’s the one day a year you can dress up as something you’ve always dreamed of being,” said Breanna Hemphill, junior.

Megan Schumacher, junior, loves seeing the little kids’ cute, creative costumes and how eager they are to go trick-or-treating. Even high school, students admit they still love creating unique costumes and receiving free candy once a year. After all, actress Kimberly J. Brown, ( Marnie Piper) said it best “Halloween is cool, no matter what age you are.”
