When it rains, it pours: A bad week 1 performance got worse for the Crusaders with several players leaving the field on a day that from the get-go was not for the Crusaders. It all started when safety Taimoni McKensie broke his collarbone on a diving interception in warmups, a tremendous loss for the defense. After the injury, everything that could have gone right went right for Valor Christian, the defending Colorado state champions, with several calls going their way, including one that called back an early Crusader touchdown on their opening drive. The game was close after the end of the first, with Valor only up by a single touchdown, but after the end of the first quarter the Eagles rattled off 28 unanswered points to win 35-0. The Crusaders play Bakersfield Christian next week at home.
