Nate Meredith, number 2, huddles with fellow teammates at a home football game this season.

Faith Lutheran football has struggled with adversity through the entire season, from losing sophomore wide receiver Eric Ho in week one against Valor Christian to losing senior offensive lineman John Schulte two weeks later against Palo Verde due to an ankle injury. Following that senior San Diego State commit Elijah Kothe broke his collar bone against Legacy right before homecoming.

The team has been flooded with injuries from the start of the season and does not seem to be catching a break at all after losing star line backer, Nate Meredith, to a broken arm in last weeks game against Centennial High School. The Crusaders went away with a victory on the field, but will be greatly impacted on the rest of their season. Meredith has 17 unassisted tackles and has 34 assisted tackles with a combined total of 51 tackles this year. Meredith suffers a broken arm, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

“I wish that I could have finished out the season, but injuries are a part of the game and it just happens, its nothing that I can control,” said Meredith when asked about his injury. His team will miss him dearly, especially senior, John Thomson, a fellow starting linebacker. When asked about what it would be like to play without Nate for the end of the year he stated “I am going to be sad, Nate has been a big part of the team for the past 2 years. I love that kid like my brother, him and Charles, (Charles Dowel went down earlier in the season with an ACL and meniscus tear), I see those two every day and its sad, but they should know that I am going to play these last few games for them and I love them.”
