The Aggie offense gets ready to run a play against the Crusader defense.

Last Friday all who went to watch the Arbor View-Faith Lutheran football game were treated to a great back and forth affair between two teams that desperately wanted to win. Faith Lutheran struck first on the scoreboard with a short touchdown run from quarterback Sagan Gronauer, and would lead at the end of the first quarter 9-0. Arbor View would respond in the second quarter, scoring on fourth down on a sneak from quarterback Dillon Cowan, leaving the score 9-7 Crusaders at the half.

The Aggies would score on their first possession of the second half with a 35-yard touchdown pass to running back Deago Stubbs to put the score at 13-9 Aggies after a missed extra point try. Faith would respond by driving down the field thanks to a great catch by receiver Peyton Thornton that would put Faith near Arbor View’s end zone, where they scored off a one-yard run by Conor Paravia. The quarter would end with Faith leading 16-13, but Arbor View would not be denied the victory. The Aggies would score twice in the fourth, off rushing touchdowns from seniors Diego Stubbs and Jaquari Hannie to put the game at 26-16 Aggies. Faith would attempt a last minute comeback, scoring a touchdown off a Dalton Kincaid reception and a Saundre Spiller two-point conversion, leaving the score 27-24 Aggies with 46 seconds left in the game. They would attempt an onside kick, which would go to the Aggies after Faith almost recovered the ball, and they ran out the clock to win the game.

Arbor View leaves the game still unbeaten at 3-0 facing Shadow Ridge for their next game, while Faith Lutheran falls to 0-3 on the year, losing each game this season after holding the lead at halftime. They play Palo Verde at home this coming Saturday. A highlight of the game is above.
