Last year women’s soccer fought hard all season long and their hard work paid off; they came back with a state championship. This year they have been working just as hard, practicing for two hours every day after school, and getting ready to play in the new division.

Although in years past, Coach Morrill has set up games with the teams in the upper divisions to challenge his players and this year he had no choice. The Faith Lutheran women’s soccer team came into this new division as the underdog. None of the other teams were worried about Faith Lutheran moving up, but as their place shows, they should have. The women’s soccer team finished third in their league, and made it all the way to the semi-finals.

The team started practicing the week before school started, and continued every day after school until their season was over. The team participated in two tournaments: one in Reno, and one on their home field. In the tournament on their home field, they came back with a very impressive second place title. All together they ended their season with a record of 10-10-4 and a league record of 5-4-3.

“This year and season the team was a very tight knit group. We were all a family of close friends that constantly supported each other. The season had much harder competition so that nothing was given. In the past, we have had some easier games in the league and it was easier to make it into the postseason. This past season, we truly had to earn every win and every moment in the post season. This year may not have ended in a state championship as it did last year, but God blessed us with a family and many opportunities to prove who we are as a school and team in arguably the hardest league in the state,” said senior, Beka Lescinski.

Their season ended after losing to 4-time state champion, Arbor View in the semifinals. However, they will be ready to come back next year to give Arbor View a run for their money.
