The Faith Lutheran track team is having a great season, but it is far from over. So far, the team has had 7 meets. They have come in first or second in all of their meets, overcoming all other schools in the valley. Some meets have taken place at Faith, while others require them to travel to places such as Chandler Arizona, Moapa Valley, and Spring Valley.

A track runner since 6th grade, Tino DeGeorge, a current freshman, gives us insight into the team’s success, “The season has been going very well, we’ve been placing first or second every meet.”

The track team has always done well, but what allowed them to really succeed this season?  Tino Degorge  said “Our schedule is definitely more strict, and we practice very often. Our time is spent training for the meets and not messing around.”

Brenden Harper, a member of the track team, has been running track since 6th grade and specializes in the 1350 meter.

“This is by far the best season I have participated in.” said Harper.

The last meet of the season is May 1st and following are the regionals championships for the D1A school. The head track coach, Mr. Kober, feels as if the other coaches did a great job preparing the team.

“I think we did well. We had a lot of preparation and planned all the practice sessions based on recovery time,” said Kober.

He also described this year’s track season and how it has progressed.

“(It went) Really well, both teams are very competitive and we won our last invitational. They both (women and men’s track team) have a really good shot to win regionals,” said Kober.

Regionals were this past weekend and Kober’s predictions became fact when both the Women’s and Men’s track team won first place at regionals.

The track team is headed to state May 15 and May 16 at Del Sol High School.
