Faith hockey kicked off the season with an opening weekend trip of all three teams heading to California on the weekend of September 5th.
All three teams played both Friday and Saturday, playing three games in total. Kaleb Strebel (10th) of the Junior Varsity team said, “The most enjoyable part about this weekend was scoring a game-winning goal.”
The three teams played their hardest, coming out with some breezy victories, as well as some hard-fought losses. Austin Clark (11th) of the Division 3 team said he “enjoyed winning game one the most.”
All the players and staff are looking forward to a great, fun-filled season ahead. Some say they are most excited to play rival schools like Bishop Gorman. The Division 3 team beat the leagues defending champions, Villa Park, by a sore of 3 to 1.
Players and coaches shared that they were excited and confident about the rest of the season following this big win. Coach Jordan of the Division 3 team said, ” The season is one to look forward to.” The two other teams came out with great success as well, winning at least one game each. Overall, the teams played the best they could to come out victorious. There will be many more trips to California to battle against the same and new teams throughout the season. Soon enough, Faith will be back in town playing at City National Arena, sop make sure to show out and show up! Be sure to follow the Instagram @faithlutheranhighschoolhockey to stay updated.
