Varsity Volleyball Making History

“It was a hard game just for the fact we were playing for the state championship, and the highlight of the game was Courtney’s winning kill,” said Coach Amy Fisher

On November 16,2013 our Varsity Volleyball players defied the odds set in past years, and accomplished a goal that was the first ever in the Faith Lutheran Volleyball Program history. They are the now the Nevada State Champions.

Coach Amy Fisher says it is a team sport and there is no major MVP for the championship game. Each girl adds an element that makes this team a team. “The key to winning was how the girls connected on the court and used each other’s strength. Their communication was excellent and each play was executed with great direction and purpose,” said Coach Fisher.

Winning a state championship is never easy and the road to greatness is not a smooth journey. “These girls accomplished so much this year with what they’ve had to overcome, and they followed the game plan perfectly,” said Fisher.

With putting in many hours of hard work and bonding together as a team, the girls were constantly preparing together and individually to ensure that they had a fighting chance at winning this victory. Even though the practices seemed never ending, and the girls were tired, they pushed on in hopes of  feeling the great emotion that comes with winning a state championship.

As the winning point was awarded, the emotion overwhelmed the team.  “It’s amazing that we could finally do it, and since it is my last year it really makes it that much more special,” said Senior Nicole Thompson.

“It feels good knowing there is such a great future for the teams to come,” said Megan Kronschnabel, Varsity Sophomore.

“No matter what level you are at whether it is high school, or college, or professional it is hard to win a championship,” said Fisher,  “but our Varsity girls worked harder then any other team and put their heart and soul into the game, thankfully coming out as the victor, I couldn’t be happier.”
