With the end of the year approaching fast and seniors getting ready to head off to college, there are only a few moments left for them to make memories together. Prom and graduation are some of the last events they can take part in before they leave the school but the event that the senior class is looking forward to is Grad Night. This event is what the whole senior class has been for waiting since freshman year and now that the time is finally here it seems to be more anticipated than the Prom or Sadie’s dances. Nick Schneeman, a Faith Lutheran graduate from last year, states that in his opinion that “Grad Night is the most fun and sad that I have ever been in high school. You party and have fun the whole night but this is the last time you’ll see all your friends.”

Grad Night will take place at the Durango YMCA immediately after the seniors’ graduation ceremony at Canyon Ridge Church. Once they arrive they are treated to both an indoor and outdoor party full of water games, carnival games, dancing, food, and music to celebrate this big milestone in their lives as they transition into their lives in college. The party goes all night until 4:00 am when the students are to be picked up by a parent or guardian. Senior and party expert Ty Monroe stated that he looks forward to the festivities ahead when he heard about the raffle that happens every year. He said, “I hope to win something that I could take with me to college like a mini fridge or a GoPro. This Grad Night is going to be the best party for years to come. Dancing, partying, games, swimming, and a raffle what more could we ask for…”

This celebration is even anticipated by lower classmen as well. Many juniors are waiting for their chance to attend Grad Night as well. Junior Sam Burgett said, “I can’t wait for the swimming and partying with all my friends but I’m sad that most of them are leaving this year.” This event is also fully funded by tickets sold to seniors, tee shirt and sweatshirt sales, various family and local business donations. Overall, this event is shaping up to be the greatest and most fun party at Faith this year.
