Fierce Competition: Juniors Vs. Seniors

With Powder-puff, lip sync, and other games during homecoming week there is a natural, fun-spirited “rivalry” between the High School students at Faith Lutheran; however the competition regarding lip sync has really started to get serious between the Juniors and the Seniors.

The tension between the upperclassmen is the product of a “Wizard of Oz” theme being chosen by both the eleventh and twelfth grades. The competition and rivalry is all in good fun as, Kayla Juntilla, member of junior lip sync said, “The seniors having the same theme as us has really just given us motivation to win, it’s making it more fun”. Both grades are confident in their performances, Michael Owens, member of the senior class lip sync, is sure that seniors have seniority, “…we just have to come to lip sync and prove that seniors are the leaders of this school”. Liva Faselt, a choreographer of the junior class lip sync believes that although the juniors are the underdog they can still win with enough practice, “We’ve been putting in extra practice time, and really focusing on lip syncing all the words“.  Both grades are putting in a lot of hard work and rehearsal time which is sure to make this years lip sync better than ever. Mrs. Buuck has clearly stated that although props, costumes, and song choice, are good additions to the performance, ultimately lip-syncing is the most important part of everyone’s performance.

The junior class put on a great performance, but in the end the seniors took home the prize. The junior’s score was just 4 points lower than the seniors. At the end of the day Homecoming is an opportunity to have fun and come together as a school to raise spirit. #crusaderpride
