Technology Takeover

Technology Takeover

Technology has its pros and cons. Teachers and students have a variety of opinions on the technology use at Faith Lutheran. Every student in high school and middle school attending Faith Lutheran either has a laptop or an iPad. Using computers or iPads in every class can be very distracting to students and as well teachers.

“Technology can worsen and improve school work because it can help you learn and do new things and give you examples, but it can distract you and not be as beneficial as it should be,” said Maddy Larson, sophomore

Students think that it is very useful to have the Internet at their fingertips. They use their devices for taking notes, printing worksheets, or looking up useful articles. Almost all classes use online textbooks if it requires one. This makes it easier for students because they do not have to carry around books. There are also worksheets students can download or can turn in online. Students are able to check their grades and use Moodle whenever they want.

“I feel like it makes class easier because we do not have to write as much in class. It’s distracting because we can play games” said Justin Chung, freshman.

Most teachers are inconclusive on if having electronics in class is the best thing. Some teachers feel like electronics can be distracting in many scenarios. Other times computers can help lot in class and make work more efficient.

“Hopefully it helps students be more organized using calendars or taking pictures of assignments, or even using an online bible instead of flipping through it” said theology teacher, Mrs. Crowder.
