The Choice is Yours- Save it, Waste it, Or Read it!

A new course at Faith Lutheran called Water For Life is making an impact this year. Mrs. Kathy Grant started the course to promote awareness to students .

“It helps raise awareness of the local and global water crisis as well as delving into related issues such as recycling, organic farming, and conservation,” said Grant. The class also helps students realize that water is also a commodity and may soon run out if we don’t change our habits.

“I joined the class because of the water problem, to help the world face the water crisis and the recycling has also changed people’s mortality.” said  Skylar Shields, student of Water For Life. Students and adults need to realize that reducing, recycling, and reusing are things we have to do in order to save our planet.

“I enjoy teaching this class because I am learning so many things I was not aware of, like the hidden ingredients in so many foods, farming problems, and the sad truth behind bottled water companies. We helped raise over $8,000 to build a well in Africa, so I think we have been successful!  My students all bring in reusable water bottles and we have really stepped-up our recycling program here at Faith Lutheran.”

Jonah  Grepke, a member of Walk For Life stated,  “We learned a lot of the water issues on the news, everywhere, it is also helps changing people’s mortality and it helps students learn.”

We all think that the Water For Life is a wonderful class to help raise awareness and money to build wells in Africa. If you have an additional questions about this class you can contact Mrs. Grant or go to room 114.
